In the lead-up to AEW All In, Mercedes Moné contributed an article to The Independent's Voices (comment) section. Moné discusses the ongoing battle to secure the respect and recognition that women’s wrestling rightfully deserves—a topic she is undeniably well-versed in.
I’ve had clients contribute to Independent Voices before, but I must admit I was surprised to see Moné’s name among the contributors. On reflection, though, I perhaps shouldn’t have been, as the angle—talking about a wider issue, like women in sports—fits well.

It’s not unusual for such articles to be ghostwritten, with the credited author reviewing and signing off on the final piece. I have no idea if Moné personally penned the article or if it was a collaborative effort with a ghostwriter, but it would certainly have had her sign-off.
The article is partly in character, blurring the line between the real person and her wrestling persona—a hallmark of professional wrestling. This blend of reality and fiction might not be fully appreciated by the editorial team at The Independent.
Credit to the PR team for finding an angle that worked for everyone, including getting a plug for All In at the end!
